John was born in London and grew up between London and East Grinstead, Sussex. He played rugby from the age of 11 to 16, including a spell in the Harlequins Academy, while also competing in shot put for Sussex at U15 and U17 level.

John discovered American football through the NFL Academy combines, where Coach Gavin Collins took an interest in his potential. He was drawn to the Academy by its professional environment, facilities and the opportunity to develop into the best American football player he can be.

Alongside football, John is studying a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business Studies. Away from the field, he enjoys spending time with friends, watching rugby, football and other sports, as well as playing FIFA and Madden on Xbox. A fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, John is continuing to develop his game as an offensive lineman.
