Matias was born in the Dominican Republic and grew up in southern Mexico, where his family introduced him to American football. A talented multi-sport athlete, Matias was named Most Valuable Big Player at the Covercero Camp against U19 competition and is a three-time Quintana Roo school shot put champion.

He earned his opportunity to join the NFL Academy after being discovered through Instagram by Coach Daniel Docal. Matias was drawn to the programme by its football environment and the legacy of players who have gone on to compete at Division I level.

Alongside football, Matias is studying a Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development. Away from the field, he enjoys painting, basketball, cooking and soccer. A fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Matias looks up to Isaac Alarcón as he continues his development as an offensive guard.
