Born in Helsinki and raised in Tuusula, Finland, Rene started his athletic journey in men’s gymnastics, which he practiced for 7 years before seeking a more physical sport. He discovered American football through a flyer for a local tryout with the Sipoo Bulldogs, instantly falling in love with the game. After three seasons there, he moved to the East City Giants for two years, and later transferred to the Helsinki Roosters, where he had a breakout season in Finland’s top-tier Maple League. Rene has represented Finland’s men’s national team from the age of 17 and is a two-time European U19 bronze medalist.

He joined the NFL Academy after his friend Vili shared his highlights with Coach George, leading to a connection that developed into an opportunity after a strong showing at the Porvoo Combine. Rene is passionate about self-improvement, enjoys music, and believes the NFL Academy is the best place for top European talent to develop and chase their goals. His favourite team is the Miami Dolphins, and he looks up to Chad Ochocinco as his all-time favourite player.
