Talby Smith is an Australian offensive and defensive lineman from Orange, New South Wales. He grew up in Orange before moving to the Gold Coast to attend the NFL Academy. Talby has a strong multi-sport background, playing rugby league from the age of six as well as cricket, where he earned accolades including T20 Player of the Year and Highest Run Scorer for Orange City Cricket Club, along with Representative Player of the Year honors at Orange Junior District Cricket Club. He also spent time in development systems with the Bloomfield Tigers, Sydney Roosters Junior Development, and Central West Rugby Union.

Despite having an interest in American football, Talby had not played the sport prior to joining the Academy due to limited opportunities in Australia. He was first identified at a Sydney Roosters development game and later invited into the Academy pathway.

Alongside his academic studies in English, Maths, Science, History, Media Arts, Spanish, PDHPE, Visual Art, and Social Science, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and has an interest in barbering. A fan of the Baltimore Ravens, he looks up to Myles Garrett as his favorite player.
